Nocturnal Hour

Nocturnal Hour

A Poem by Poetic Beauty

It’s the quiet wee hours of the morning
The sky onyx speckled with stars
My moon glowing casting silver light
To brighten the darkened night

The earth in a relaxing slumber
The loud busyness muted in tone
A hush has fallen over the ground
As faint whispers become gentle sound

The dark stifles obnoxious clamor
As my brain becomes less anxious
Letting my surroundings be serene
A soft moment of routine

Void of external roaring chatter
The poet’s hours quench the soul
Releasing the swirling tension
Into a different dimension

Nocturnal hours, my favorite time
Creativity is easily found
As twinkling ivory orbs gaze down
On a lethargic docile town

Gently my mind gravitates to you
Always lingering on your eyes
A pale blue sky gleaming brightly
Capturing my attention tightly

As the darkness begins settling in
I allow myself to drift away
Picturing your intense carnal stare
In this moment that you and I share

Being awake to see the day begin is my favourite time. Its amazing where your thoughts can take you when the day slowly fades into a wonderful time when the incessant noise and blah blah sleep.
It is the calm before the new days storm and inspires us most of all when pen touches paper.

Yes I’m a lover of it being quiet as well. There is a time and place for noise.

If only our brains could become less anxious....so many more moments would be gentle like what you portray here...purely serene.

some towns sleep at night :) i like the meditative quality of each verse working on capturing a serene moment in nature .. onyx stone, moon and stars .. seems to drop in and out of a rhythm i can stay with .. not sure if that is intentional or not... Emily did it on purpose ;) the use of the word "carnal" kind of puts a damper on my romantic inclinations but speaks to perhaps an open fun romp .. i think the title is a great hook .. i am up many mornings ... early ... 2 AM .. might as well call it night ..

ps. i have read that 3 AM claims to be the "witching hour"

Ahhhh, the night with its thousand eyes and love but one..

There us both necessity in a quiet and soothing night but also, the magic and mystery of what it offers or.. what we can find it, especially if insomnia is the habit of one's world! But, as your emotional poem whisper it has special moments to offer -

'Nocturnal hours, my favorite time
Creativity is easily found
As twinkling ivory orbs gaze down
On a lethargic docile town

Gently my mind gravitates to you
Always lingering on your eyes
A pale blue sky gleaming brightly
Capturing my attention tightly'

am then the mystery of two minds and hearts meeting in the silence of what is to be glorious theatre;
only two creating the secret sounds the night offers in the middle of nowhere. Perhaps it's the heart's only time to flutter messages meant for only two in metronomic code.

There is a different atmosphere to the "wee hours." When I worked the night shift, I noted the stillness that set in after the hustle and bustle of the working day had passed. Of course, as I manned a mental health crisis line, that's when the weird people came out, too.

I worked at a hospital and late at night was typically when things weird would happen
Relaxation and creativity come through so clear; the wee hours are so vital where we gravitate inwards to bring out the best and reflect the most.
A most wonderful poem.

Late night, early dawn, peace and silence, only you are awake, the best time for creativity with the stars shining upon you and the moon smiles…Al is quiet, time for reflection, and time to be in the arms of your loved one, just the two of you in comfort …..my best work happens in the wee hours….vivid images PB, I love the relaxation of the writing.
