The Cursed Turkey

The Cursed Turkey

A Poem by Poetic Beauty
"

simply funny

"

The antique grandfather clock struck five

People gathered around the table

Signaling dinner soon would arrive

Delicious smells wafted in the room

What a grand occasion this would be

Everyone feasting together soon

But the golden turkey was cursed

Plagued to hit the slippery floor

The Great Dane got to dine first

Its  massive jaws were a direct hit

Gnawing and chewing on our grub

Children cried launching loud fits

This chapter now comes to an end

As the adults migrate to the door

For eating here will not begin

First I like your rhyming here, each word at the end of the sentence had that extra hmpf to it. I wonder how many families this has happened too. Personally if that was Dog he would be outside in the cold for the entire winter reflecting on what he did! LOL....

This is such a funny poem! I can just picture this chaotic dash after the turkey falls upon the ground. Having three big dogs this made it all the better. My dogs are always snitching food so I know how it would go if a turkey fell... They would steal it :)
A very funny piece you create, super well written!!
LOL!!
