Slumbers No More

This pulsing heart slumbers no more.

The vacant tomb is now closed.

Once again fully exposed

 

Light casting a special glow

Revived a cold sluggish heart

Emotion now playing their part

 

Shadows have been cast aside

Charred by an intense fire

Called free flowing desire

 

Imprisonment is now gone

The  black chains of despair broken

Feelings of wonder now spoken

 

The cage has been destroyed

Excitement peacefully flows free

Completely encompassing me

I think this poem has many meanings and reasons behind the words. This one came from the heart for sure. I don't see this as dark instead I see it as the opposite of that. It is like light is finally shinning down upon you and you are beginning to live again with joy and passion. The poem is very symbolic almost a cleansing. I think it is a great write for the feel of it and for the meaning behind it. Excellent.

I liked SpokenWord's comment about 'a cleansing'. I felt tramped and smoothered, full of pain at the beginning of the poem... then I felt a light bringing me closer to freedom, tearing me from the fire burning below.... and then I felt at peace, feeling free and cleansed of all negativity. This poem could speak so many different feelings and emotions and anyone could read into it differently... I just felt a negative atmosphere being left behind for freedom of positive energy and feelings. I liked it.

I read this as an imagined reviving from sensual death of a person whose desires then flowed freely, no longer entrapped but opened into a world of delight and excitement... Tightly constructed writing with a strong theme...

I agree there are many meaning in this piece that leave it open to interpretation but for me, what I get form this write is, to not let my heart be dormant but there be times I’d just want to give up, but I got to get up and pick up the pieces and move on, Pay me no attention, it’s an awesome write.

i agree with SpokenWord..this one comes from experience and much intospection on life and reality..makes me wonder about the many possible meanings your words could have..sometimes its takes so much to go along with life..that beyond the all the effort lies freedom..for "The cage has been destroyed" and now despair cannot torment anymore..lovely..could relate to every stanza..99/100 from me..
