Being Brave.

I was listening to "Brave" by Sara Barreilles. That's probably why I used the word brave so much.

Barely a teen. Young, clueless, helpless, vulnerable. 
Words sting, losers win, it all hurts, life begins.

Some are brave, some are just shy, it's hard to find the real friends, you can't tell when it'll end. 

Betrayal, nothing hurts worse than being tossed from the crowd. 
People fear standing out. How do I break out of my shell? 
Everybody wants to know, but nobody tries to find out.

This is why we speak our mind. Don't let your words be empty. Shout as loud as you can. 
Let them know that you're there and will always be. How long 'till they realize your free.
Staring, whispering, teasing, hating. Stand, take it and move on.
It's a broken home that make them all so aggressive. They think it's acceptable to let you know how different you are.

Beauty, brains, status, skin. These all count in their world.
They can't judge, they'll learn. High school is four years. You'll last. Don't worry how long it seems.

I know how bad it hurts, the words getting under your skin. It's not easy, it never has been. 
Ending it early isn't the answer. Being brave is hard, it always is. Don't be afraid of help, I've fell. 
Yes, just like you. Mistakes, we always make them, but yeah, oh well, we make it through. 
All I wanna know is...

Just how brave are you?
