Run

Run

A Chapter by Shawn Purcell
"

A song about personal freedom.

"

Behind closed eyes I seek the future.

I’m lost in this illusion

For the rain I wait to cry -

I scream, “But why?”

But get no answers from the night

Except this myriad of existence.

Chorus

Run, like your fears don’t own you

Gravity can’t hold you

The wind can’t stop you

The past will not follow.

Run, like the world doesn’t owe you

Like time can’t mold you

Boarders can’t trap you

Death is not the end of you.

(Who you were is not you.)

To tired eyes I’ve come home

With a heavy heart to face the souls.

Away from all the things I’ve seen and known

To think things have any meaning.

If this pain isn’t real,

What could you be feeling?
