Arsenic

Arsenic

A Poem by rachielle

There’s that feeling again,

It always comes back.

No matter how I try to run away,

It stops me on my tracks.

It haunts me like darkness,

Its grip tight on my heart;

But I give in nonetheless

So we’ll never be apart.

You lurk in the shadows

You hide in the deep,

You are the mighty billow

That drowns me in my sleep-

The greatest of my dreams.

And though the sweetness of you

Could cause me glee,

That same partition

Is the account of my agony-

As I search deeper into the sea of my emotions,

I surrender to the storm;

And I freeze as each drop of your potion

Left me dead and gone.

There's nothing more confusing than a love-hate relationship. Your poem shows two aspects of affection--sweetness and intoxication. It's ironic how love depicts both things: It creates. Yet it also destroys.

My favorite lines:
I surrender to the storm;
And I freeze as each drop of your potion
Left me dead and gone.

Rach, this is simply fantastic!
Keep writing, :)

For me that love/hate relationship, feeds off of my fears. To love so deeply is to fear loosing that love. I fight it with all I am, and in the process destroy the relationship. My favorite lines are above. Another super write from you!
