A Room Full of Roses

Cesar Alvarez

A room full of roses

Blooming every day

Reminding us that they are alive

And that they have their say

A room full of roses

Each different but the same

Loving each other

Trying to up their flame

A room full of roses

There you are with that look in your face

Bedazzled by their beauty

Engaged in their gaze

A room full of roses

Waiting to be caressed

As you go by them one by one

Telling you how love is confessed

In a room full of roses

You find the particular joy

Of love and heartbreak

Transforming you into a boy

As you hear the whispers

As you hear the wails

Your senses tingle

And your judgment fails

When you find the fairest rose

The one in all the land

You realize that rose is unattainable

And belongs to someone else’s hand.
