Ice and FireA Poem by Rose of GondorSometime I wonder Why I even bother It’s not like you’d listen to me Any more than anyone else You call me “friend” You call me “bestie” But in the end I’m just Another stepping stone I don’t know what it is You want from me I don’t know why I am Of any value, any importance You say nothing But your actions speak And I hope sincerely I am reading too much from them You show me that you think Laughing is a waste of time And you will leave “useless” things behind In the dust, the shadow of your greatness You show me that you despise The imperfection of mankind And making mistakes is like staining Yourself with sin that will never wash away You show me that you think You don’t need other people You don’t need friendship You’d rather be lonely and great So why am I still here? The question lingers in my mind You don’t need me I’m just another “useless” thing You’re too silent, too uncaring Calculating and too cold In your search, in this never ending Search for greatness, for glory So why am I still here? What do you want me for? Will you use my wits and my heart To further about your goal? What do you want from me You who do not understand forgiveness What do you want from one Who is opposite and yet so alike to you? And why do I still stay When it’s been made clear That there is an ice in your heart That refuses to be thawed? Because, my friend, you and I Are like ice and fire Our hearts beat in sync, you see No matter how different we are And this is why I keep coming back This is why in your darkest days I stay through the night This is why we need each other I will forever be trying To pull you out from your shell To make you laugh and do all That you think you have not time for And I have faith That perhaps one day Fire will be able to thaw ice That maybe you’ll learn to live Because we are so alike Because we are so different You and I are the same as Ice and Fire © 2012 Rose of GondorAuthor's Note
