Mending The Quilt~

Mending The Quilt~

A Poem by NoneOfYourBusiness akaKITTY KUTABAREakaCandyPole

Each and every task

task that you set

set me up for failure

failure as wife

wife me in strife

strife at every turn of phrase

phrase speckled with unsightly noun

noun, pronouns took me to ground

ground roots thickening my walls

walls going up brick by brick

brick in your hand, venom splatter

splatter new heart against the inflexible stall

stall my engine leaking confidence

confidence in paint splatters on canvas

canvas of this thing without a ring

ring me around my rosy blush

blush in lavender spots

spots before my eyes hidden in the cave of dark shades

shades around every corner

corner of my mind in pain, rage, must save

save a piece of majesty before I forget

forget me not, forget you

you, who set me up for failure

failure with every task you chained

chained to blending, now drying, cracked

cracked and broken

broken by your antics

antics tearing through semantics

semantics ground to misfortune

misfortune in your view

view of us as competitors

competitors never build a solid home

home of you

you without me

me better off

off to rebuild my pieces

pieces in tasks I set

set for myself to triumph

triumph over the damage of you

you alone in your failure

failure to sustain a good woman’s heart

heart in my pocket

pocket sealed, stitched with words

words you took, I now reclaim

reclaim my heart

heart quilt

quilt requires work

work to patch it up

humans are sensetive creatures~ but poets especially so~ to poets words are treasures and miracles~words convey facets of every nuance of the human condition~when one takes words and turns them into weapons against one who lives on words and inflections~ they can crush like no fist ever could~

I love everything about you, even your poetry. I have to think of balance, lightheadedness, ability to drive when I read. Hey, you got that halfblade up your sleeve? Love your new look. I thought i saw you look at me one time, just imagination. Now get in there and get me some god damn potatoe salad.

This is entrancing..i love the form and flow of it...the repeating of the last and first words of the line. Such strong emotions exude from your words...beautiful and such an empowering message.

Tears fall freely down this poetess' face. Feeling every line, every sentiment and stitching the pocket as I read.

Those with good souls
Souls who feel deeply
Deeply regret the burns and scars
Scars that are invisible to others
Others who can't know
Know how steel is tempered in fire
Fire burns but it also strengthens
Strengthens those with inner iron
Iron that is yearning for a smooth touch
Touch the edge and be cut
Cut to the bone.

Good job.

(and props to Amy Bumpass who did much better with this than I)

I absolutely love this poem. Using the last word of each line to begin the next really solidified the image of sewing a quilt, and the story behind it was very well presented. Also, I enjoy your e. e. cummings lowercase approach. Makes it very fluid. Well done.

This is what the poem is all about:
home of you
you without me
me better off
off to rebuild my pieces
pieces in tasks I set
set for myself to triumph
triumph over the damage of you
you alone in your failure
failure to sustain a good woman’s heart
The struggle within ourselves, life, love....

A wonderful looping poem - kept me on my toes, this one, all the way to the end. Masterfully done.

the pace of this one races the heart , a story of being set-up for failure , barrage of verbal jabs felt more so by a lover of words ~

not once did you fail
fail-ure is a word
word that can't pin
pin a life like a butterfly
butterfly in a box, not you
you are a bouquet of colors
