Promise To Myself

Promise To Myself

We all have our places

And we all have our lies

We all break promises to ourselves

Records of unsuccessful tries

Loveland is for danger

Like the sky is for the stars

And the afterlife's for the screaming

Of a thousand broken hearts

A shatter leaves an echo

As empty promises fall down

It breaks like glass, the fragile heart

Brings tears with the sound

No more, no more, no more, say I

A promise I stray to turn from

But I try to walk the path I set

Until days are done...

Don't undermine my promise

You don't even have to try

I know you'd never hurt me

But I still don't want to cry

I'm so used to broken promises,

To drowning in the lies

Of those who came before you

Who brought tears to my eyes...

The human heart's an organ

But not one you can play

If you play with someone's heart

They are sure to turn away

Love is full of danger,

Be mindful of those wishing stars

Keep your thoughts and wishes locked inside

To avoid breaking my heart.

Freaking amazing poem.
And that's just an understatement.

The words just...flow, as "Senseless Whatever" said.

"Loveland is for danger
Like the sky is for the stars
And the afterlife's for the screaming
Of a thousand broken hearts"

^_^ My favorite part. It all fits so perfectly together.

In retrospect, I love this poem. It's incredible. [:
