Still Here

Still Here

A Poem by sheila.j

Sometimes I sit here

Playing Russian Roulette; gun loaded

Memories; which one will blow me away?

Barrel pressed to my head, fingers on the trigger

Click. I'm still here

Wrong thought. Wrong time. Not enough to push me

Over the edge, to never ending darkness

A deep abyss; my own escape.

Like pandora's box; everything

Unknown, it's frightening

Don't know until I open it

No going back.

Go on with what I have, pain

Live with what I don't know, ignorant

Look inside the box, lose it all.

I like it a lot, but I feel that it's disjointed.
The first half is good. Stark, straightforward.
And the second half is also good. Succinct, but establishes enough to understand the choice.
I feel like there is a good middle to this piece that's missing. Directly between "...here" and "Wrong..."

Ok that is cool! That russian roulette thing, brilliant! My favorite line of the whole thing was "Click, I'm still here." Very cynical. Great job!
