The X-Factor

The X-Factor

A Poem by Jordan A. Wilson

X marks the spot

It’s stitched on her breast

Spent many a-day searching

Now I’ve finally found the chest

A chest full of treasure

In which the spoils I behold

A flame that burns inside

Shall never grow old

Let us relish in this day

And live one thousand more

X marks the spot

Like an eagle, my heart soars

Author's Note

Jordan A. Wilson
My friends and I came up with this phrase, The X-Factor. It's when a girl possesses subtle qualities and intangible traits and mannerisms that can cause a man to smile or laugh for no apparent reason. This is an ode to those who possess The X-Factor.

ahh, the note at the end made all the difference for me. Now i understand the hidden treasure chest type analogy of the poem, and once again i find it incredibly satisfying to read. no boring parts to it, just a quizzical questioning that wants to know more about what's buried under the X. This poem by itself is enough to cause a smile! :)

Huh. Well I like it but nah not ya best. But I do like how you're like saluting girls who have this "X-Factor" as ya call it.

Hmm, It felt sorta awkward to read through it, and kinda silly with the last verse. Maybe it could've worked out well with the whole x-factor concept if you put in a colloquial tone to it, this is upon referencing to your note.

I hate to do it, but I agree with maidahl. Not your best piece by far.

I'm so sorry. It's so corny, I don't get it. The syntax? Inverted tone. It's pretty old school, but juxtaposed with the topic, it's pretty corny. Again, sorry. Not my favorite.

It's just one of my most straightforward pieces. No worries though, it's all gravy.
