Pick my pocket

Pick my pocket

A Poem by Soren

President Clinton once said “There is never enough money”

Taxation is supposed to fix this deficit, don't you think it funny

Taxed for each breath taxed for each death

Every thought and what you bought

For feeling love or hate if your early or late

Taxed for each time you have sex, or even if your muscles flex

Taxed for your beliefs, and your griefs

Taxed for your dreams, and days with sun beams

And how long you sleep, or if you weep

Property taxes for the homeless, Income tax for the unemployed

Sales tax for thieves, taxed for anything you enjoyed

To fund

Programs to see, if syphilis causes harm to you or me

Cameras for the blind, teaching cannibalistic baby rapists to be kind

Atomic rockets, cash to put in politicians pockets

Bandages to save the planet, citizen monitoring even though they've banned it

This is government at it’s best

God save the king!

To hell with the rest

I do feel this spews truth...I, too, had trouble with the "baby" line...awkward and a bit of a sidetrack, but
yes, as Fabian expressed...at least with Bill, a balanced budget....and a really good president, maybe the morals suspect, but then if there had been the intrusion of press back then, Kennedy would have been in the same boat...and many others.
right now, the Gas tax is ridiculous, sales tax as well, and those prices are already unnecessarily burdensome.
good piece.

I like this. I miss Bill Clinton. At least he balanced the budget and managed the country's finances with good results. He did a good job despite his fondness for political interns of the opposite sex. Today's administration just throws money away leaving the bill for the next generations to pay.

Thank you so much for taking your time to review this piece and for your comments
i understand the stress of taxation and the abuse that comes with it
you have many valid points well expressed
i do however have one small problem with the line ...
' ... teaching cannibalistic baby rapists to be kind' a harrowing thought that doesn't fit well within the scope of truth you write
other than that it is a valid write, well written with points many may ponder
appreciate the courage it takes to take a stand
