And it Started

And it Started

A Poem by Norma M Sutton

The prelude to And She Wept

Previous Version
This is a previous version of And it Started.

And it started with a rumble
Deep from under ground

And it rose up and tumbled
Grandeous walls down

And it started with a rumble
That grew and grew and grew

And it rose through the layers
Supporting me and you

And it started with a rumble
That reached up to touch

It rose with fiery wonder
Into the darkened sky

And it started with a rumble
A hot and putrid breath

And it rose beneath the moon
Pushing through the ground

And it started with a rumble
That grew and grew and grew

And it rose up and up
Moving in leaps and bounds

Yes it started with a rumble
That blew a heated rush

And it rose to the heavens
A fire with no bounds

What started with a rumble
Charring all it touched

And it rose burning brightly
Blinding all in sight

And that rumble that coughed forth
A spew of molten dust

Rose and burned the earth
One dark faithful night

Rumbling on and on and on
Demanding to make right

It rose and burned the living
Purifing all

Rumbling every outward
Until the break of dawn

And then as the sun rose
It shown horrors bright

The earth felt the grumbling
Beneath unearthly light

Rising in the center
Smoke all around

Ash and fire tumbling
Falling to the ground

Rising up the eerie light
All secrets burned away

Fumbling on our knees
We cried the day away

And it started with a rumble
From the distant skies

Rising with the wind
From darkened smoke filled skies

And it started with a rumble
That flashed across burned plains

Rising with crashing thunder
The earth began to cry

Reviews

There are always warning signs that we fell to see when a relationship is coming to an end. Some great metaphoric references.
