For Them

For Them

A Poem by The Purple Kazoo
"

the 'bad' people never seem to get a tribute. well now is their time.

"

The one who stares hatefully

at their own image in the mirror

The one who wishes futilely

for legs that aren’t a dream

The one who screams silently

when their knife draws crimson from their wrist

The one who sings at night

but only the sad songs

The one who takes another sip of poison

to escape torturous reality

The one who lies in bed

wondering if he will come for them again

The one who jumps off the stairs

for an ounce of hard-earned attention

The one who dreams of the murder

of the cuckoo in the nest

The one who lies compulsively

because the truth is too hard to bear

The one who hasn’t got a clue

how to tell right from wrong

The one who wakes up in the morning

to a pillow soaked through with tears

The one who pulls the trigger

because it's the only way

This is for them.

Well now, I'm pretty much in love with this. I love the fact that you care enough to write stuff like this. It's talent you've got and I'm glad that you use it. I don't understand the part about the cuckoo in the nest though. What does that mean?
Overall, this is amazing. The honesty and rawness= =D.
nice job.

Man...you really get to me Shay. I was one of those people. I was confused on so many levels as a boy. I had to fight with every bit of strength to survive. People like you (and me) came into my life just long enough to give me a compass heading. True people. Just. Not trying to take advantage of me. That's all we wanted isn't it. Someone true and real and trustworthy.

This poem is so dear Shay.

This is a really thoughtful and deep piece, Kazoo. It really covers a gamut of bad things, some of which are really sad. I originally misunderstood your point until I got into it further. I thought these were the bad people, but these are the victims from, I guess, their perspective sort of. I enjoyed this, thanks for sharing.
