Just Another Anxiety Attack

Just Another Anxiety Attack

A Chapter by therisa
"

Being in crowded situation is, one of my triggers for anxiety/panic attacks, as a result of being bullied, in group situations.

"
Can feel
Your hot stinky breathe
Flowing down my neck
As you chase me
Through the urban jungle.

Always a step or two
Behind me
As I zigzag
Through the transit system.

Hoping to lay
A false trail
To confuse you
But no luck.

As I feel your presence
Gaining ground
Upon me.

Almost upon me
Tapping my shoulders
With your taloned claws
Ready to rip my soul
Into a thousand pieces
Before consuming me.

While
My poor heart
Is working overtime
As my pulse tops
The 140 bpm rate.

Threatening to leave
For a body
Less stressful
And warmer climes.

My body awashed
In a sea of sweat
Drenching my clothes
Coating everything
With a cold clammy shine.

Wondering
Would it be drier
To swim
In Lake Ontario
Right now.

Counting the minutes
Til I can bar you
From my presence
Behind the safety
Of my apartment door.

As the bus
Draws near
My stop.

Anxiety is horrible to have. You have portrayed it very well in this poem, its chases you down and doesnt leave you until you find your safe place. Very well written.
