Stand Off

Stand Off

A Poem by Mauricio Montoya
"

peace

"

Stand Off

I challenge others, often not myself.
To justify what’s right from wrong.
A perception perceived from indifference.
This resentment I've longed.
If a solution is not placed on the table

 Can a house divided win?

If unable to look within

My discord can’t be resolved

If we can’t see eye to eye

Or put aside that dreadful sin

 We often, call pride.

With valiant valor and some aggression,

The strongest leaves the last impression.

With concessions, unwilling to concede,

Only weakens the stand,

That we are all created Equal.

Remember,

 The needs of many

 Far outweigh that of one

And a lack for empathy will be the downfall

To cloud above

 A basic understanding of integrity

 Through compassion and love

For the greater good

A common goal,

We should humble and cherish

For it has been told

From many generation long ago

Plant the seed

For what you reap you sow

And that will live

within your hearts and soul.

I’ve been stuck working on this piece for a month, your input is always greatly appreciated,
I’m a member of a club and sometimes people want to impose what they think is right without thinking of others and it happens everywhere

The first line is gold. How often do we all challenge others and pick out what is wrong with everyone else. We turn the finger on ourselves at times but sometimes not to the same degree and sometimes we are even more harsh with other people. Sigh.. the ability to be understood, a constant quest.

"Oh, the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all out, just as they are, chaff and grain together, certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness blow the rest away.” -Dinah Craik

This was a tough one, i am torn between saying this feels like Bon Jovi and Muddy Waters. it opens with a nice burning sun sort of feel that Bon Jovi has, but the close reminds me of sweet georgia blues. Man, this is tough! Awesome Job, But Tough!

Beautiful words of wisdom and truly profound piece
Clubs always want to do things their way
They don’t really listen to anyone’s openings
But just planting the seed may some day
Surprise you
Mauricio anything that is worth planting the seed for
Is always a struggle,

I felt it. The flow is really interesting by itself. the toughts and feeling conveyed really tap into a sad social norm in this life. makes me think. makes me feel. most importantly, it makes me want to do better. Cheers! R.G.

AMAZING PIECE, WORTH ALL YOUR TIME. I WOULD RATE IT 1000/100. LOVED THE WISDOM AND SIMPLICITY AND GOODNESS IN IT, WHICH IS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART TO TAME AND POLISH IN LIFE. KEEP WRITING. I LOVE YOUR POETRY.

There is always a struggle...and planting seeds is a great gift to ourselves and the future. I am reminded of the many greedy people and corporations out there who don't consider the greater good but only the money to be made. Great poem!

There is a deep feeling here of longing... striving after peace and unity... Wanting to plant those seeds that yield a beautiful harvest for all. Well said.. your heart shows through.
