The Road

The Road

A Chapter by Robert Francis Callaci

Give me that old time religion

on my road to perdition-

As heavens gates appear closed to me

I see the fires of hell and the brimstone sea

I may be a liar,

killer and a conniver

but I never meant

anyone no harm.

So you gotta understand

I’m not really an evil man;

just a misunderstood,

vicious little hood,

surviving in this jungle-

Anyway that I can

Give me that old time religion

on my road to perdition-

This time I’ll listen to what the preacher has to say:

“Go kick that devil in the a*s

and get down on your knees and pray”

my mammy was a w***e

old dad a lazy drunk

shirley is now a mean old man named curly

little jack is all jacked up on junk

So I had to kill, steal, and cheat,

to fill their bellies with booze, drugs, and meat

For isn’t that what good sons are supposed to do?

Give me that old time religion

on my road to perdition-

for the devils not to happy with me now~

I’ll never again listen to what a preacher has to say ….

This was so nice ,and so wise..
Yes the road all my life was never that rosy, full of pricks and thorns..
Got a loose mother and a drunk father ,so I had to work it out all ways to feed the drug and the drinks
Is not a good boy is the one to stand for his family no matter miserable as they are
but I always never meant any harm ,walked through my life the best way i could
So if to hell I go,i would have no choice in this..just had to do what is right
again another lovely write ,and so wise ,how I enjoy these writings
lovely write..
