A waffle came spinning out of nowhere to thump into the back of Roger's head. He glared around to find the source of the projectile. As his eyes found the individual he gasped, and his face drained of color.

"You're...you're supposed to be dead!"

"I'm sorry," The doctor said, voice hidden beneath a facade of false sympathy.

Janet's heart seemed to have imploded, a feeling as though a sucking hole had manifested itself in her chest. Her head spun, and her knees would not support her.

The air parted around the blade with an irritated whoosh as Delmor slashed at Nicko's ducking head. Delmor giggled maniacally as he swung again, creasing a loose sleeve, he red eyes brightening momentarily at the possibility of having drawn blood.

#2 is GREAT, franklin. perfectly done "in media res" and just... great job :)

#3 isn't quite in media res, just because there's no way to tell if this is the middle of things or not. it could be the very first shot (considering they'd yet to have "drawn blood"). but i like it nonetheless :)
