Four Words

How could you lie? 

How could you break my heart with four words. 

Four words I believed were true.

But were only a lie. 

Four words to end a friendship that took time to build. 

Four words for me to never see you again. 

Four words I hope I never hear or experience again. 

Four words. 

That's all it took.

Four words broke my trust. 

Four words stole that good image of you. 

Four words showed who you really are.

This a great and sad what I'd call a 'dialogue poem' and having read the comments I found what the 4 words were, but they could have been a lot of things that might add up to the same outcome, like :

I don't love you

I am leaving you

I'm seeing someone else

I'm emigrating to Australia

And so on

I only figured out the 4 words from the comment section and that was disappointing for me :( I was really expecting the phrase to be revealed in the poem, since the title was so leaning on them but none the less the structure and the piece was really good.

Thank you. Well I didn't really want to say what the "four words" were. So yes. But you know even though the four words might not be that great. If you listened to the whole story. You'd understand.

I did understand, but you know when you really want to be rewarded with something at the end :D like a kid, hearing grandma sent money in the mail but it got lost, I'm gonna be sad because even though it's the thought that counts i still expected that reward :D such were these 4 words, anyways good write Aly < 3

sigh....it's a long unbearable story...but...it was " I have a girlfriend"

Well....he doesn't really have one....I asked this guy on a date and he told me had one but really he doesn't so....yeah.....then this poem was born...haha.

I loved how you kept repeating the title! It really made reading it more...hmm...I wanna say intense but I don't if that would be the right word. Oh well I'll use it. It made it more intense. It was a very simple but direct poem. And the way you ended it kind of justified your whole point of writing it. Great job! :)
