One Last Breath

One Last Breath

A Poem by Hello, Goodbye
"

...one last breath as death takes life's place..

"
A stranger walks in the night.
Up to me, pulls out a knife.

Before my mind streams a light.
Before my heart a flash of life.

Against a wall (sadly) I am trapped.
The knife is penetrated inside of my fleeing back.

A scream of terror escapes my mouth.
Life giving death all of its clout.

Pain that is impossible to believe.
But not the blood running down my sleeve.

I turn and stare at a strangers face.
A blank expression that is not fazed.

He then uses his knife in creative ways.
Making sure that I will have no more days.

My cries are muffled by its laughter.
Stabbing deep.. faster and faster.

My body, it now starts to tremble.
A horrific pain inside of my temple.

The lungs in my chest, no longer move.
The beats of my heart, they take their last cue.

Into my head, my eyes roll back.
Darkness then... starts to attack.

In a sudden shock, my eyes open wide.
I now see a turning fan, up high.

All around, light now starts to stream.
Its not heaven.

It was all a dream.

Wicked freaking Dream.. Wow.. That was very real had my pulse slightly evlivated. Great write and if this was a true nightmare you had nice capture. Your imagery was grand. xx

Great ending, consistent rhyme scheme. Simplistic yet powerful language.

Your words were chosen carefully it seems, and without the now mainstream pretentiousness. They clearly paint the image you were going for. Wicked, ghastly, terrifying. This sounds like a troubled mind, paranoia seems to be hinted.

I'm trying to find some weak points, but I'm just wasting my time. No faults. Very well done.

you made this dream seem very real.

This is lucid and clear with vivid images painted in each line. The fear, the pain are all seeping out of your words. This was done well. Hope you don't have dreams like that often

At first I thought the fan was heaven. Lol. :D
Very nice! Not to be creepy, but I liked the part where she got stabbed over and over again.
Great write!

You choose your words so well I can feel the pain. To die in your dream, those are the dreams you never forget. I don't believe I could put it into words and poetry as well as you did.

Okay, I love trying to interpret dreams and according to the dream dictionary if you dream that you are being attacked, it symbolizes how you feel the need to defend yourself, or that your character is being questioned. Knives symbolizes aggression..

To dream that you have been stabbed, signifies your struggle with power. You are experiencing feelings of inadequacy and defensiveness. Alternatively, the dream suggests that you are feeling betrayed as reflected by the popular phrase, "being stabbed in the back". (from dream dictionary)

The poem itself is striking, and can easily be the beginning of a C.S.I story. Interesting dream.

vivid release of fears; the knife cutting into the unknown - slicing the reality of our hidden needs - a release dream of sorts...it can be quite paralyzing
