The Men Stayed Home or Death of a Leading Man

The Men Stayed Home or Death of a Leading Man

A Poem by Crowley
"

They were the bees knees....swoon.

"

                                         I

Lying in repose, the naked ghosts were still active in his glorious chest

Dashing in death, ladies wept for the fallen giant

Sadder about the sex then the song or the gold

He had moved among them in torrid circles, chanting charms

Delivering goods rarely seen on the inside of any thigh

Leaving hearts in gelatinous pools in village after village, brutal nights

                                                     II

Marva Gatehouse was the first to raise a voice in song

Guttural tones streaming from her loins rather than her heart

The heat of the chorus swirled in ribbons above the heads of the others

In an instant of palpable excitement voices coalesced and crashed, vibration

A choir in the shape of an orgasm, a rose colored wall of ecstasy

The power of the desperation chord, A Minor, the sound of never again.

                                                    III

The naked ghosts inside his chest grew frenzied and lit among the throng

One last tryst heavily laden with denseness of forever’s seal in yellow wax

They all knew his name and yet the name differed from lip to lip

Fitzwilliam Darcy, Don Juan De Marco, Colonel Brandon, Orlando, Petruchio

The name mattered not, the deed and the willingness to rise to the mental occasion

In a heap of sweat and tears the room fell to realities vice, the pinch of immortality

                                                   IV

When Evening fell and supper called, the city spoke with lusts incessant whisper

And men in town enjoyed flesh with wives as if it were their wedding night

And the wives, Ohhh the wives…made love that night in ernest, unrestrained

And gave the gift of years of yearning while dreaming of distant castles

Beds lined with silk and cotton, sprinkled in eros oils and petals in every color

All in tribute to the fallen giant, the death of the leading man

Ahh, they don't make 'em like they used to C. Or maybe they do and we've all become too immersed in games that blip and movies that are painted with a mouse, to notice anything other than wondering if we respawn at death and have to go back to the beginning, or is there a cheat code to come back where we last saved our life.
Nope, they just don't make anything like they used to! 😊
Thank you for reminding me that there is a real life ™ out there to play, just as soon as I'm done saving the world with my infinite lives 😊

I know the sound of an orgasm, but I can't recall ever seeing one's shape. Myopia has robbed me of a lot of things. I wondered at first if this one was based on a real person, but soon it became apparent we are talking here about a mythical being, one whose exploits would make Jack Nicholson look like St. Francis. Mortality finally put an end to the endless venery, though. The autopsy probably revealed his prostate resembled a badly desiccated raisin.

dear Crowley… it seems that Women were like Gladioluses when He chanted Charms. There are a few Men who can cast a Spell and touch a Thigh..and satisfy. Lovely Rapture. gently, Pat

Love the title Crowley. That alone was enough for me. Then a delightful poem to wash it down with. Great meal.

It was a prompt to write a Rhapsody...I had fun with it! thanks Ken!
This is just way cool. Reminds me of the movie mentioned, Don Juan de Marco - Brando was at the height of his weight for that one.

I enjoy listening to how your mind works when composing metaphor. Always a treat to read you. Thanks.

I don't think you need much-you have buckets of talent.

Ah, the leading men of yesteryear. The ones who made every woman sigh and walk straight to bed. He had them "shaken, not stirred" and they all were in love with him. If the fantasy carried back into their real relationships, even better. There is desire, passion, and romance in every line here. Excellent work. Lydi**

Thank you so much!
Right, all is right in the world of your write. If the ghost put some clothes on there'd be less chance of an attack on his heart. This reminded me of 'Game of Thrones'. Depraved activities veiled in honor and respect. What else do you do when the big man dies? Fornicate!

Right or wrong I thought of all the leading me of the old theatre. From Henry Irving onwards. And the plays of the bard.
This is a remarkable rhapsodic scene setting tour de force of a write and I love it.

immediately as I was reading Your first lines "Don Juan" who came to my mind, then in Your last verse, the movie "Don Juan De Marco" what captured my mind, how His love inspired Love in each one's heart flowing the passionate lustful desires, reviving Love as powerfully and enchantingly as it can be. as it must be! and You've painted the scene wonderfully, I see You so much as very good story teller, this piece here proves that. very well written.
