Daughter

Daughter

A Poem by Dara
"

This poem represents those unsaid words from a father who could not be with his daughter, such as mine, on Father's Day. RIP Jim.

"

Remembering those days

of playing in the sand

sitting by the shore

or walking hand

 in hand.

Those picnics in the park

laughing in the rain

looking at the clouds

from the windows of

the train.

All the songs we have sung

the stories that were told

the poetry we read

their meanings to

to unfold.

You are my sunshine in summer

the bright colors of fall

the wind beneath my wings

my inspiration

my all.

love,

Dad

A poem every daughter would want to hear from her father. :) Parents are the pillars that keep us from falling as we grow up...

While beautiful, it's also a bit heartbreaking. I'm a grandpa that doesn't get to see his granddaughters nearly often enough, and wonder if they'll even remember me. Surely, the father is missing from the picture only in body.
