AN INHUMAN WAR

AN INHUMAN WAR

A Poem by Red Rose
"

How can we let them die and still call ourselves human?

"
A boy was discovered under the rubble of his home,
blood and dust masked his shock.
His family not to be seen anymore.
Do you know him?
"Which one?"

Two kids were hauled in,
to identify a lifeless body.
A teardrop slipped down their cheek
as they recognized their once beautiful mother.
But moved aside, the next orphan was dragged in.
There was no time.

A lone man weeped over his small house,
he lost after the bombing.
The tears weren't for his home,
but for his dead wife stuck beneath the debris.

The survivors felt no sympathy,
they've had it worse.
Just keep surviving,
even with no hope.

Or is there?

You can be their light,
even if its just a spark.
They live in darkness,
so you light their path.

Why the hesitation?
Religion and race.
Of course, why else?
But in the end,
we are all human...
...Aren't we?

Author's Note

Red Rose
The other day I watched a few shocking videos of the war taking place in Syria, Palestine and some other countries. All of their broken and sad cries shook me up. I couldn't speak for a long time and I ended up crying myself to sleep. What's happening right now is unforgivable! I want to help in some way.
And so this is my feeble attempt to spread awareness of the inhuman war.
This is the only way Im able to help.

True when you see stuff like this you really do see how pathetic your small problems are compared to people who have lost everything .... but when you see them still surviving still having hope still believing it's just....... so pathetic to see yourself giving up on life and love and hope when they were the people who would have done something like that and to realize that those people are stronger than you in so many ways. I am happy you shared this, you did your part . As a writer this is your share of spreading peace .Nice piece and a lot to learn from.

why divide human race in the name of caste and religion.
unfair, pathetic..
we are created as one, to be one
ironically we have forgotten the most prior job we were sent to do for

Thanks for posting this.
Artists tend to be self-centered by nature, and sometimes we forget there's real atrocities happening beyond our pages and canvases.

I recall watching another video like that and all the adults kept refraining was "god is great" as they wailed and lined up the bodies of dozens of girls and boys, even some babies.

It was startling on multiple levels.

Regardless of religion and politics, we are all human, and can suffer.

But religion and politics do complicate matters when it comes to actions and relief efforts.

Anyhow, I'll quit before going on a bigger tirade lol

Thanks for posting.

This is great writing. People need to be aware of what is going on right outside our homes. It is just insane and I feel your pain. Thank you for your bravery. It takes a lot for people to care about something far more then what they have going on in their own lives. I will speak highly of you. I just want to add.......I don't push religion onto people, however; if you believe in something you should pray because that is helping. Our higher power answers prayers. I know, I should have been dead.

I am literally crying right now. I have always felt that the fact that a celebrity breakup is dubbed more important than lives that are pointlessly lost for the benefit of someone else, or for no reason at all. It is inhumane and unfair and I feel it needs to change. I realize you think this is all you can do to help but there is so much more you can do! I realize you probably aren't going to go o Syria to volunteer but I'm sure you have some money you can donate to the cause, or you could sponsor a child who was orphaned because of the war. There are TONS of ways to help! I'm not saying you should stop writing, NEVER do that, I'm only saying you should find something that you can afford and will enjoy to help the people affected by the war.

This is very heart felt, I really like it. It's so simple and raw, and very, very relevant in this selfish, breaking world we live in.

I am so proud of you for putting this out there, I think it was a very brave and necessary thing to do. I want to be able to get our words seen and heard, and you are beginning to do that in such a powerful way. I think it is interesting how you took on such a first hand stance with this poem, rather than an unknowing bystander that most people are. (which would be more powerful: to write first hand or to write as though you are that bystander? Because if you wrote in the latter perspective, maybe people would really begin to understand the extent of what i going on.) I think it is very true that although we do know very little of what it truly feels like in Syria, the media gives us an outlet so we are able to witness it firsthand, making some turn their heads away and others stand up to fight.
Great Poem.

A great write, the poem evokes emotion, and awareness of the situation. We should continue to write, and present the situation whenever and whatever way we can... one-by-one we may touch a soul and make a change!! Thank you for writing this poem!
