A SPIDER’S SPELL

Looking out in the garden I glimpsed a very thin thread

Across the small space between a plant pot and my shed

Not wanting to get entangled and risk spiders in my hair

I resolved to remove it and approached slowly, with care

A sweet miracle of delight appeared before my very eyes

As tiny pearl drops of rain fell glistening, from the skies

The busy spider never stopped in its efforts of intention

Just purely and simply determined work and dedication

An intricate web weaved in a delicate and unique design

And sparkling with pearl drops with the lack of sunshine

I continued my spying and watched as flies were lured in

Now the spider’s got fast food stored there forever within

I could not destroy that wonderful creative work of art

I guess the spider and its magic had won over my heart

I left it to build some extensions, in its own happy way

And then decided that was it, my good deed for the day.

You have painted a picture of nature's beauty here and done it with perfect rythm and rhyme, Margaret. Watching nature's beauty is such a serene way to spend time. The imagery in this poem is stunning. Lydi**

I like this a lot. It's very creative and well written. Spiders are creepy to the core to look at but they do
create such beautiful works of natural art. I leave spiders alone outside and only kill them when they're in my home. I can't pick them up and toss them out the door like I can with some bugs. Great poem@
