Sister Strength

Born of one father and separate mothers, we had shared many days of childhood.
There were memories where the darkness didn't cover us,
When we shone in a happy light.

Now I stand with you; grown and different.
Times have changed, Its all apparent.
You are older, asking my young mind what to do.
You lead me to see what your a victim of.
After so much of seeing you weak I said,
"I don't know anything."

I used to be so weak; you used to be so strong.
Even when I saw so much violence, and heard so much pain,
When I chained my spirit with hopelessness,
I knew that you could help me see the light of the oculus.
Just the sight of your face meant that it was a new day.

Strength is hidden in us both,
Even if it falls unconscious it has growth.
If you are lost in a negative space,
Remember how strong you have gotten from every darkened place.
