A True Hero

Never again will I slumber so peacefully

Now that the time of mourning has passed

This land is reawakening all around us

Drastic change festers under the surface

Everyone is so afraid, so afraid of what may come

Take heart, young one; your courage is your greatest strength

Let it be your guide through this deepening fog

And there is no way they can take you, break you

Lead you away from His eternal light and love

Fortitude alone can spur you onwards

Making you oblivious to treacherous doubt

Yes, I see a hint of fear deep within your eyes

The fear of fear itself

A true hero, destined for this.

Your words are true. True strength can come from fear and overcoming it. I like the story and the strong ending to the excellent poem.

I thought it was a very nice piece. Not sure though about whether or not it is a physical leaving of somebody to actual war. Or if it's that some others are trying to get this person you write about to turn their back on their beliefs to conform with the others. Change who they are to fit the "mold". To be not themselves truely... so their mind is at a "war" with the body in a manner. (or mind vs. mind if you perfer) You show a strong sense of returning to where you originally started... the core so to speak. Very well done :)
