Is there a Safe zone?

Is there a Safe zone?

A Poem by Arundass TP
"

It's better to be safer

"
The tallest tree in the forest
Calls to climb high to pluck sweetest fruit
It was an adventure to climb
The branches are steps holding

There are snakes on  the branches
Crawling looking birds and squirrels
The poisonous insects tries to inject
Monkeys and lemurs playing on top.

From the top, the greenish hue spreads
The horizon is dark, wind carrying rain
Lightning and thunder  in front
The tree swings to and fro.

Heavy rain follows cool wind
Monkeys and lemurs under leafs
Birds hide  inside patches
Insects hide somewhere unknown.

Water starts to flood
Rising slowly to the top
Climbed fast to the top
Sat on the top branch seen

Snakes are eager to climb
Monkeys and lemurs
Serpents with large hoods
Leopards, crocs and creepy creatures.

Water touched on the top branch
Creatures crawl to the top
The fruit is ripe to eat
Safety, it is to be found out.

Muddy violent water touching topmost
Poisonous serpents on legs with fear
Monkeys, lemurs, leopards and crocs hugs each other
Its time for sunset.

Hours of dark uncertainty
Holding life together forgetting the reality
Sun rises with golden hue smiling
It's better to jump or die!

I once took two of my children to Belize on a mission trip to the jungle. I had never been there before. we arrived near dark and bedded down in a house on high stilts. In the early morning I went out on the side deck a experienced a view to the horizon it seemed of nothing but the tops of trees in every direction and so quiet as if the trees were all holding their breath. It was a sea of green a most remarkable sight to experience - your words took me back there and I imagined all the people and the creatures within that sea and how they continually contend for their existence. Loved the images, thank you for the post. -carl

I understand a gargantuan AI drone named Noah 11, has been directed to the top of each tree and told to rescue the birds, bees and every creature it sees and this time to also rescue, not only one, but two unicorns.
Listen intently for the sound of its mighty engines so you will be saved and can write more poetry

It really is survival of the fittest and how tiring would it be to look over your shoulders every day just too survive.

A splendid work! Such vibrant colors and amazing diversity, it really gears the mind with an invoking imagination. It's quite a refreshing to read works about the natural life every now and then when one does not actively seek them out.
Thank you for sharing, author Arundass TP.

It seems the animals looked all around for safety. Didn't find it.

I fear Lord Tennyson was right. Nature is red in tooth and claw.
