My Reality

My Reality

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

Shoot me down
Murder me willingly
Take everything
I have left inside of me
Take the hurt
The pain
The pride
Take everything
So I can no longer hide.
Take my pills
There just an escape
My reality
Is what the take away
Message the press
Tell them I caved
I can't handle anything
I feel it slipping away
-
Play a game
So I can hide
I don't want to be here
Leave me to take my life
A razor has etched
It's stories in my skin
Leave me alone
I can't let you in
-
Laughter is gold
If only for awhile
Then you'll take that gold
Smash it with a smile
Drown me in tears
You play the game well
I hope to God
You rot in hell
-
Run me to tears
It comes so well
So easy for you
To throw me into this well
I gave you everything
You took that from me
Now what is left
Not even a glimmer to see
your killing me slowly
Though you'd never tell
Your actions speak louder
Than your words ever will.

I care, Ali, and I'm always here for you, I promise. The poem was a great one, going in my favorites. There were some powerful words there.
