THE GLANCE

The glance of the extraordinary

Grand ole evergreens sink low

Drip sweet smell of pine

earth smothers with brown needles

sheds for new growth

A stroll through the woods

come upon Ellis Pond

brackish water

frogs, turtles abound

colony of ducks, some snooze 

others waddle with orange flat web feet

A glance to the southwest

on a clear, kindly day

looms a colossal mountain

Pure titanium white

In summer, regal sunbeams glisten

eclipses all for generous miles

splendid, she sits

like a quiescent queen

In winter, clouds shroud

her into a frigid slumber 

she keeps silent

though storms whip her

heavy snow batters her

not a soul can see her

loneliness lingers

I’ve never even gone to a forest before, but I felt REALLY there, really apart of nature. The explanation and the detail in each sentence was just spot on and perfectly placed and said.
