Senryu For You

Senryu For You

A Poem by William Michael Reeves

A series of senryus about some poets here in the cafe.

Mattavelli rocks
Bobbles poetry easy
Questions all my thoughts

(That is a bobble head isn't it?)

Old man is all hairs
Jacob writes up a ladder
Let's you know he cares

Cherrie was a fruit
At first she was anime
Now we see she's cute

Shadrach is a hah
'Cross the big blue pond he calls
Mike writes, without flaw

In the Light of Song
We see her truth in music
Love to sing along

Fermenting Barley
Words like hot hops brewing
Girl drinks poetry

From the land of sun
Carlos swings a verbal sword
Jesting just for fun

(Or is that the fool?)

Baptized by a cat
Sharing caring energy
John is all of that

K's a bit depressed
Writes down rhyme to ease her mind
Heartfelt words are best

Writing for us Yanks
Chris wrote happiness so late
Now we all give thanks

Introspective thoughts
Sam shares all her misery
Writing to detox

Author's Note

William Michael Reeves
Obviously I have too much time on my mind...after finishing that poem I just wrote which was so heavy(too heavy?), I needed to lighten my mind..
As I was writing these I kept thinking...is it ok for haiku to rhyme? Almost doesn't seem like haiku, when it does. Like haiku is supposed to intentionally stumble into profound truth. I'd be interested in your thoughts on this. Its rhymes I find. Hope you don't mind.
Thanks for all the poetic love!!

(My name is Bill. William just sounds good with the art)

Thank you kindly Bill for the wonderful haiku. You sure did capture a piece of my personality in your art. I feel like the Zorror of poetry. Ready with words to fight against injustice. Villainy should always be weary of Jester in costume for the fool is more wiser than the king. Thank you again my friend.

I love this so much! I haven’t been active on here lately because I’ve just recently had a death in the family. I feel very honored to be mentioned in this poem! Much love to you!

Hi William, I am always at the coo's end, as we say here in Scotland. I enjoyed reading each of these wonderful Senryu. I thank you most sincerely for mine, it is much appreciated. Hello Bill. Well I enjoyed what you did here with these senryu. I was more than happy to get a mention. As to rhyme. I think you should use it whenever your muse feels that way inclined. All the best.
