Unmoored

Unmoored

A Poem by Burak Batuhan Karakus

Adrift
It's like jumping into water
and doing somersaults -
this unsteady ground beneath me.
I'm not trying to run away,
though stuck on the point of action.
I can't just take my savings and go.
There's so much going on in this world,
yet I've nothing new to offer.
I don't want to spread poison
or serve exploitative powers.
Lives blink in and out so quickly.
I look back on the loves I've lost,
the hands I'll never hold again.
Even if I never touch the moon,
I'll still gaze up at the stars
and cherish time's irretrievable passage.

This is excellent. The metaphors fit perfectly and not a word out of place.
