Pretty pictures are left now and now you are gone. I sit by the lilac trees and I'm smelling the lavender in the air.
You were my Spring love, my Summer delight.

You and I. We loved the Summer sun and the sea. I remember you laying by the sea. Your sun-kissed skin tender and brown. Tempting smile and your perfect body blessing the sky and the clouds. Rolling curves of beautiful body leading to dangerous wishes and a thousand kisses.

You gave me kind words and you told me. Pour the Lilac wine dear Johnnie. Summer is ending and I shall leave soon, but dear Johnnie. Our love is like the Lilac tree. I will see you in the Spring. The Fall and the cold Winter will make us yearn for the sea and for more lilac wine.

I drink the lilac wine and I pray for the days of Fall to go quickly and the cold days of Winter to fade to the days of Spring. I need my Spring flower and I yearn for her kind and gentle words.

Let's dance with the sea and rest by the Lilac trees. You and I. Last lovers of the dancing sea and the gifts of nature. We are free and wild like the dandelions. Can't be locked-in and free to grow. We love the song, we love the deep forest and we love the lilac wine.  Today is our day, let's make it last forever.

What a wonderful picture you paint with your words. I can imagine the waiting through the seasons for the arrival of the lilacs and your lover.

You conjured up some wonderful memories. My grandmother had a lovely lilac tree in her backyard and I loved it. We would often cut some and place them in a vase at the dinner table. Thank you so much.

Take care - Dave

You touch on all the senses in this one, John...the taste of the wine, the smell of the lilacs, the touch of your lover. Summer ends, but the memories remain. Always so romantic, my friend. Just lovely. Lydi**

You are very kind. You are a amazing writer my friend. I appreciate the comment.
As promised, this is one of many reviews I shall be giving your work. When I saw the title I didn't know quite what this poem was going to be like, but honestly, it was a very good read. I loved the inclusion of the photos and how well they fitted with the story you told of the Lilac wine. As someone mentioned in another review the descriptions in this were truly perfect, I could almost feel the sun and see your characters before my eyes. Truly, you have done a splendid job on this and I really enjoyed reading this. The only real pointer I can offer for improvement is that the first two photos are clumped together (for lack of a better word) and I feel the layout of your poem would look better if they were moved slightly around and separated. I don't know how adding photos to poems and stories works on here since I don't do it myself, but this is just a suggestion to make a great poem even better!

And beautiful 'words' they are too! I do wonder if this lovely woman is someone you know, or is she an 'ideal'?' Either way, it must be really good to have these memories.

Thank you for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.
Splendid imagery, Coyote. I wasn't familiar with the song. It's the perfect background when reading your poem. The images are perfect, too. Triggering our senses as we absorb your words.

I like the seasonal references most. So much depth in this piece. Love and also life more generally. Spring and summer bliss, and fall and winter loneliness, struggles, and self-reflection. Another fine poem from you!
