Subdued

Subdued

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer

Previous Version
This is a previous version of Subdued.

One lone dust devil rips down the dirt road driven by the wind in a north- easterly direction.  He disrupts a shy roadrunner making his way across the prairie grass, the wind seems to carry upon its spirals the breath of spring.  The wayward wind of winter has been subdued and the Robin’s sing and the crappie run and the sun shines bright.

yes, this is Oklahoma, luv it.
We have a family of roadrunners that have made their home here at our place.
Such peculiar creatures. They follow me as I am mowing on the riding lawn mower, search for grasshoppers etc. Love this little bit. And Im loving our weather now.

In the words of Leon Russell "Dusty Oklahoma was all I ever knew...." Robins, roadrunners and dust-devils....no that's a vision.

This is good! In Spanish, dust devils are called "Tormenta". I hail from the Southwest, and your poem brought back pleasant images in my memory. Not quite Spring here in Alaska. Thank you.

I see the seasons are changing in Oklahoma OK. I was in touch all the way along and loved it! I have to ask from my watching post on this side of the Atlantic, what is a "crappie Run?" It has odd meanings in the UK!
