Little Boy Blue

Little Boy Blue

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

grandbabies are the best

"

Child so soft and swaddled in blue

Close your eyes, while I hear you coo.

Each click of the clock

Makes cream your skin.

And with you in my arms, I feel young again.

Your mother I see, with a dimple just there

So sleep for a time and let the world wait,

Let me steal this moment, until you awake.

Softer than velvet, and new in your gaze

As I watch both you and your mommy asleep.

Sensing, somewhat, the way you write; I can picture you, pen in hand, grand baby in arm...daughter asleep on couch. :) Having families gives one the ability to imagine this scene.
Very nice poem Cherrie. Your writing always draws me into melancholy memories; soft images not lessened by time.

I never thought about how being a grandmother returns a woman to, or extends her time of childbearing youth. Wow! a-duh on me! But it comes through so lovingly clear here and it is for me a small life lesson. Very simple, and so very nice.
