30 day Notice

30 day Notice

A Poem by Judas Hammer
"

My time on 12th and Centre in San Pedro. They shot the last scene of friday part two at my former home......I know so what!

"
30 Day Notice:

It stinks
the air wreaks of surrender
Large mounds of trash
lay still in the Alley
next to my Small green abode
Gang Graffiti faces my North
hopelessness faces my south
Rough black youths use my alley
as a throughway
and bathroom
strutting through with bad intentions
my neighbors stare at me
with owl like orbitals
staring
glaring
attempting to pierce
my soul
and locate my secret
place
I stay in a one level, two roomed
green shack
owned by a former male figure skater
from Palos Verdes
he collects the rent, always during the day
My small home sits on the corner of 12th and Centre
police sirens mix with Mariachi Music
the two create a disco of the damned
This is my reality
but it suddenly becomes clear
my thirty day notice
will start
tomorrow

You took me there immediately with your descriptive prose. I can close my eyes and not only see it, but feel it too.

I like the way you describe everything that leads up to your decision, it gives the reader quite the image of your residence and those that surround you. Your descriptive words are unique and refreshing, and i especially liked the 'disco of the damned' line. Superbly written and very vivid.

You make me feel as though I am standing on the street, and I understand it as a cyclical observation through action.

Rents and income is more flexible here, so I reckon what you described above must have been frustrating! Good title, enlightening stanzas. Thank you.

A really nice piece of work. Strong imagery; I feel this place.
However it could be improved with punctuation.

Your word are strong and powerful. Many people in this new USA are on a thirty day notice. I like the description of the city. I hope you are still going to make movies. Strong words make a world come alive like the details in this poem. Thank you for a excellent poem.

The very reality of this sings a multiple style of possibilities that all house their own set of rules. The magic of this will be long lived in this reader's mind. You have achieved much in way of valid concern.

We all have our own realities, and the above doesn't resonate with me, thank god, because it doesn't form the backdrop to my life. I tend to agree with Mr Furioso when he says - 'You have to get out of that place today. It is absolutely destructive of all the finer aspects of life.' Cities are so mind numbing - clear out to the country while you can!
