Twisted Feelings Well Up Within

Twisted Feelings Well Up Within

A Chapter by Devin Mitchell Durbin

Words don't always come so easily.
They find ways to get twisted up inside of me.
Broken, tattered, beaten, bruised
doesn't matter what you do.

The lines that define the battlefields
rise up and out and become few.
They turn to walls,
and hide the calls
of a creature fighting a war.

They live inside
these creatures do.
The ones that kill me
you know them too.
The demons of my past
that have haunted me.
The nightmares behind our eyes
why do we let them be?

No rhyme or reason
just an act of treason
that has left our lives
separated, and abandoned.

There are words that I need to say
I'm sorry, just to begin the phrase;
and a million other tiny parts
that should have been there to light the spark
the candle's burning down to naught.
It's left little light to write by.
This is why I give up, lift this up to the one above.
Oh father, I have sinned.
I am ready for healing to begin.
My father who art in Heaven.
Take this pain away from me.
Take our past and heal our future.
Let tomorrow be a new day.
