Chapter 18 Invitation

Chapter 18 Invitation

A Chapter by ALittleBitOfEverything

I sat on the dipping bed on my own, the lights dimmed and resting my head solemnly on my knees with my arms wrapped around them like a security blanket. My hair draped over my eyes that quietly flowed like the wind.
After hearing Byron saying my mother was buried here, and taking me to a isolated part of the cathedral that looked untouched for years, he lead me to a little secret garden based at bottom of the green from where I witnessed the beauty from the roof.
The sun had filtered through the branches and leaves, glittering like a disco ball. The ground crusted with fresh soil, broken twigs, bushes and more or less all clear.
The sound of crashing water echoed throughout the hollow trees, alluring me to the water. Birds chirped and the cackle of magpies trickled along the tree tops.
I could smell the fresh soil and green, and more sickly, the purified salt water from the crashing fountain. Damp wood from fallen logs I had spotted here and there with more bracken growing the depths.
I was still in the body tight suit that hugged me, and in the cold, it was quite nippy. For some reason, Byron handed me a jacket that smelt like crushed roses. My feet sore from standing on so many pointy pebbles, making me squeek, gasp and wince in pure pain. And to the rescue, Byron gave me his back to climb on. Shakily and hesitantly, I took the offer to have a piggy-back-ride.
Sighing in relief, I rested my head on his back.
Even though I hated this man with all my heart, body full of rage, I still found him as a friend. I really didn't want to think like that, but there was no point in denying it when I felt like I could talk to him.
I know it sounded freaky, and it did repulse me, and I knew for a fact I couldn't breathe a word to him.
Finally, as the sun peeked through a clearing, so did we.
I fell off of his back in a hurry. Because all I seen was falling water. Water gushing down in waves, foaming at the bottom like a rabid racoon. Rock looked like they had drowned in the pit of the waterfall, and as I peered left, it's where the river had began.
The saltness of the water was barely there, from the mixing of the water, it must've dispersed. The rocky boulders towered over the little foaming pool of the crashing water, most boulders green and slick with moss.
There was a parting of the boulders where they got smaller for an entrance to the waterfall pit, it looked steamy, but just a trick of the sunlight.
"Where is she?" I demanded, looking around nervously to see a ruined gravestone that was rotting in the shadows. But when I focused in every nook and cranny of the area, I seen nothing of the sort.
I glanced up, and in horror, seen the glass edge of the cathedral. The window was leaning outwards, the light catching the glass and shinging brightly like a star. I had to squint from the sun that inflicted my eye sight, but the edge of the cathedral looked dangerously close to the cliff. As if with a single blow, it'd topple over. But, the trees on either side of the waterfall limbered up as high as the cliffside, shielding the cathedral.
"Where is she?!" I screamed, and alongside the crashing water, it melted with the thunderous waterfall.

Me and Danny stalked through a dance club on the edge of GapWate, lights bouncing and bodies grinding against one another. The smell of strong alcohol filtered through the room as well as perfume and sweat. Strobe lights made me blink thousands of times, but I couldn't help but think of Ammie.
Like last time, in a club me and her were both comfortable with, I almost kissed her. That's when I couldn't control my feelings any longer, in the dancing light and the music flowing into my ears and dancing between our bodies, I never wanted to kiss her so badly before.
Me and the group had decided to part, since it would be easier. We agreed to meet at the centre of GapWate with what we know. I thought it'd be best to mix up to pairs to see what results we can get. So I paired me and Danny up, Amy with Alyson and Sarah and Mike. Maybe not a good combination, but I thought it would help with the task.
"Danny?" I knew it wasn't a good time to chat, hell, we had a three days left, I needed to know.
"Hmm?" Danny didn't even waver from his glare at teh back of a demons head. We had been following a demon for a while now. But no matter what, where ever this b*****d went, he always went into public places. But with such little time on our hands, we couldn't attack in public.
"You know how I like Ammie?" I felt hot under my skin. Please, as if I had to blush now?
"Yeah?" Danny's clear blue eyes slanted on me without moving his head. His hair looked a little greasy, his thin long blonde hair in his ponytail that was like a whip.
"Do you think Ammie...You know...Me and Ammie would be good together?" I didn't look at him at this point, I was embarrassed enough. I know me and Danny were liek best mates, but we don't go onto mushy conversations. Well, Danny does when he talks about Sarah, I just don't lik talking about girls like he does about Sarah. I mean, he thinks the world of that girl, like I do about Ammie.
"Hmm." Danny seemed deep in thought, I dunno about what, but he replied rather late. "I believe so."
With that, I sighed painfully.
"What?" He playfully nudged me with a little grin. "I know you've been into her for a couple of years now, but c'mon, you've left it this late? Sarah said girls don't always wait." Danny seemed serious about the topic now. "I can't remember much, but I think she mentioned Clair and Ammie talking about you. I think Ammie said something about you, but I can't for the life of me remember what she had said."
"When was this?" I was very curious now. I like to know Ammie would talk about me, and I know she would delve into conversations like that with Clair...
Oh Clair, I hope she's alright, too.
"Urm, weeks, months ago?" We managed to get a few feet away from the demon male. He stunk of rotting flesh, and worryingly, fresh flesh. "Sarah is actually very protective over all the girls. She even says Ammie treasures Alyson, even though she can be a pain in the arse." Danny's smile made me feel a little lighter inside.
Even I knew Ammie had a specail part in her heart for Alyson, like the time she almost screamed at me for Alyson's sake of loving me. She got so wound up I kissed Alyson goodbye for the final time, as we agreed that nothing would happen, and Alyson had wished a last kiss off of me.
"Everyone holds a special place in their hearts for Aly-"
"Watch it!" Danny grabbed my back and pushed me down with force along with himself. I didn't know the demon had found out about us and swung for us. People's screams echoed throughout the whole club, drinking smashing to the ground and the music blasting.
The demon had clawed at three club goers as he tried to get us, his eyes a fierce yellow and black slits made me and Danny aware he was on full attack mode. The demon stink bag snarled and attacked a female, his mouth going straight for her neck to her most vulnerable pulse.
"S**t, he's gunna drain her!" Danny shouted as we ran after the b*****d, he seemed to hover across the floor, he faced us but kept drifting backwards.
"Not on my watch!" I felt my coat flab behind me like a cape, and for a split childish second, I felt like Batman, and a deadly smile covered my face. "Arsehole, lookie here!" I shouted over the music and the demon's piercing eyes glimpsed up at me, and his mouth followed after he saw my gun aiming right at his forehead.
Quickly, I had rushed up to him and aimed my shot gun to his third eye, my breathing quickly slowed as did the demons thought to drain her.
"Drop." I ordered, with that, he knew his life was more valuable at the moment. He dropped the girl who thankfully scrambled away. People shrieked more when they seen my gun in the light.
Bollocks. I scolded myself. So much for not attacking in public.
Danny was by my side with his small hand gun he kept by his side, he aimed it with complete composure. His eyes calm and relaxed as he stared at this scum bag.
"Danny, get him, we need to roll before more trouble happens." I ordered. I know Danny's my bestfriend, but sometimes, being the leader, you have to forget friendships for awhile.
He nodded and grabbed the demon around the waist and hung the demon by his hip, the gun still by his head. I ran to an open window that, unfortuneatley, lead to an alley that smelt of piss and shame. I leaped through the window, as I turned, Danny was through with the demon still at his hip. We ran through the night like predators.
My only thought was to get answers out of this demon as quickly as possible.

Me and the guys had met up as ordered at the centre of GapWate. In the centre was a statue of the founder of GapWate, a man known as Hugh Launchman, he found GapWate in 1921, and known for his wife Lydia Launchman. He was on a large pedastool in the middle of a shopping centre, with benches all around him. Thankfully, there was no homes nearby.
It was 3:46 am and the night was still glorious, as were the others. They had managed to find a few demons, all of them here, in their tired states. Alyson and Amy had captured a older looking female demon who snarled at the sight of me and Danny arriving. Mike and Sarah held both female and make demons by ropes attached to a bench, casually talking to Amy and Alyson. The demons had also made themselves comfortable in talking to their other captive species.
"Nathan!" Alyson was clearly happy with my arriving, as was Sarah when Danny approached. Alyson came over and hugged me, Sarah jumping into Danny's arms. From the shot wound days ago, it was still sore to the touch ash Alyson jumped on me. I did feel out of place, since Alyson isn't going out with me, yet she still chooses to play her part.
"Dudes, what's with the chatting party here? Mike dragged his female demon away from his male demon captive
"What's up, how's the hold up?" I asked everyone.
"Well, this one isn't willing to talk about the demon Lord Byron, so I'm guessing he knows something we don't." Sarah peeled herself away from her lover and had her claw like fingers grip the demon boys chin. He was calm, but his eyes were burning, his growling low like his head.
"Well, let's get this meeting underway." I clapped my hands.
We all gathered our demons under the moonlight and literally dragged them to an abandoned area, clear and made the demons, let's say, comfortable?
We located in an abandoned park that was covered in tall grass and high peeling redgates. The smell of rotting garbage was stronger than the smell of rotting mamals that had been killed here by cats or fox's.
We all went into out pairs and interrogated our demons. It was sick work, but we always manage.
Me and Danny had our male, snarling demon attached to an old swingless pole. He had choppy black greasy hair with pasty skin, clothes an average teen boy would wear who would be known as a 'thug'. He wore Mckenzie track pants and jacket with black Nike Airmax trainers. Yep, I wouldn't trust this kid if I walked passed him on the street.
"What do you know about this Lord Byron's wedding to the daughter of a Hale?" I thought it'd be better to use her surname to be more accurate. I held my gun to this stinking demons head. He manouvered his head away from the gun and glared at me then Danny, as if he were to spit on us anytime soon.
The moon was carefully going down, and I could feel the sun coming up in the pit of my stomach. It would only give us two more days before the wedding, and hell would know I won't give up on Ammie this easily.
"Nothing, all I know is that they're getting married in less than a week-" He rushed before a conked him on the head with the base of my gun.
"Two days, you b*****d!" I hissed in his face. The demon boys head lolled my way with bleeding lips, his eyes, once again, on fire with yellow. He wasn't happy, then again, neither was I.
"Nathan!" Sarah shouted for me with her face towards her male demon. "Here now!" She commanded. Me and Danny and the others left to join her by the round'o'bout in the middle of the abandoned park, making sure our demons were secured tightly before we surrounded Sarah and Mike's demon captive who looked down smugly.
I had a good feeling about this, and Sarah confirmed it for me.
She handed me an envelope as soon as I reached her, her eyes looking victorious. My gut rose and fell at the same time, my excitement killing me. I felt like we had finally struck gold in days.
I opened the plush envelope, revealing a slick piece of cream paper.
