Harmony

Harmony

A Poem by Freder Fredersen (aka Grady)
"

A sing along!!

"

Sway, green blades, to the sun and wind song;

Roll, blue waves, on the billowing main;

Sing, bright birds, to the tune of living;

Man, beast and earth denying their pain.

Walk, cold w***e, to the pulse of needling;

Concrete dance floor and smoky grey skies;

Act, rich man, like your riches sustain you;

Man, beast and earth painting sexy sweet lies.

And all that happens by is a blessing

According to the steady river of noise.

No need for regret, payback or confession;

All you saintly b******s, stand and rejoice!

Trounce, gazelles, through your emerald heaven;

Dive, seagulls, into the oily black seas;

Sing, pigeons, with the engine bands revving,

 Man, beast and earth just ignore their disease.

And the desert lizard eats flies by gunfire,

And the children laugh while their parents kill,

And all things living have adjusted to madness,

Never admitting their own caustic will.

And all that bubbles up is a treasure

According to the godlike electric heads,

Shun the truth, and pursue your pleasures;

Live like the devil ‘til we all fall dead.

Harmony drowns out melody’s dread!

Live like the devil ‘til we all fall dead!

This poem is very striking. I'm particularly drawn to this stanza:

And the desert lizard eats flies by gunfire,
And the children laugh while their parents kill,
And all things living have adjusted to madness,
Never admitting their own caustic will.

I keep going back to that one because it seems to sum the whole poem up. I could be wrong of course. Very interesting piece full of contempt and frustration. Great job. I like your poems. They really make a person's mind stretch a bit.

Wow! This reminds me of a ballad or protest song from the 60's.....edgy and filled with truths many try to ignore. Very well penned. Can't pick a favorite stanza for they all paint a vivid picture of a truth. I really like it a lot.

Are these actually lyrics? Not that it makes a difference, I enjoyed them. With a title like that, it's not what you expect, but then it doesn't really surprise me as it's you.

'And all things living have adjusted to madness'

Kind of scary truth.

Very strong words not only in subject matter, but also in poetic form. Reads fast and furious! Written well. Interesting the way you tie together the earth, man and beast with the choice of sin.
