The End

The End

A Poem by Giulia King

She was standing in front of him.
Tears rolling down her cheeks.
Their souls were no longer entwined.
Naked at the thought that this is it.
This is where it ends.
Her heart breaks just by the thought that this is the last time
she looks at his face.
This beautiful face that she once kissed,
Lips that told her he's hers.
"And I'm yours" she would always breathe out.
"I don't know what to say."
"I know" she whispered.
"The fact that you don't know means you've already given up."
"You are perfect. So perfect", he said with tears in his eyes.
"I don't deserve you."
"You're the first person I called home.
And for that I wanted to say thank you."
She looked up at the sky as if the answer would fall down on her hands.
But it never did.
This breathless moment tugged on her heart.
At last she said,
"I am eternally grateful for you"
She looked at him one last time.
Those dark mystical eyes looked so broken.
"I'm happy the stars let me meet you."
He took one step closer to her.
His hand touched her wavy hair,
he leaned forward and gave her a kiss on her forehead.
She gathered strength and walked away,
thinking if she survives this,
surely there's nothing in the world she cannot do.

Beautifully written poem, Gullia :-)
Heartbreak is never easy to deal, sometimes it takes years to come out of that pain and accept the reality. I loved the whole analogy about breakup you put here through your wonderful words.
Great ending, I loved it. We should always take the ending as a new beginning. More power to that strength and courage, Gullia :-)
Wonderfully envisioned and written :-)

Exactly! :) Thank you so much!
Just when I thought you wrote about simple heartbreak, you let us in on the truth. It's about power. Nicely done.

BEEEAAUUUUTTIIFFULLL !!!!

A string of emotions and memories was invoked within me as I read this. I believe that any writing that can extract emotions from you is great writing. This one brings out the strongest of emotions towards a situation which I feel many readers would have gone through in their life.
