Dear death

Dear death

A Poem by Gee
"

Simple words on a Saturday morning

"
And when you come for me dear death
youll find not fearful tears,
as I have lived a love filled life
for nigh on four score years.
I was raised a child, raised my own
was loved, and have loved back,
have walked this world in honest shoes
along an honest track.
I've helped where help was needed most
without request or plea,
have shouldered tears, quelled their fears
as they have done for me.
So when you come for me dear death
please heed what I have said,
and as you catch my final breath
remember,
a good man dies but is never dead...

You have addressed this thing called death that we dare hardly say its word. As you have done Gee it's best to look on a life full of love and face our passing with acceptance.
All the best,
Alan

I've found myself attracted to every single piece regarding death/departure as of late, not sure how healthy that is. Lol this encompasses such a matured sense of peace and acceptance, truly the mark of a life lived sans regret. A great write.

So true...we live on in so many ways. I like this poem a lot Gee...death has become for many a daily dread yet life should be preparation for that event I humbly feel...to live is know you live on...great poem :)

I don't think Death will be coming for you for many score years to come, Gee. I suppose when our time comes how we are remembered is the mark we shall leave behind. The good are remembered and celebrated and the bad silently forgotten. This poem makes me ponder what kind of legacy I would want to leave behind. A heavy weight to bear! You excel with your rhyme and meter here. It just flows so well. Keep well masked and Dear Old Death will stay down at the pub!⚘

A good man dies, but is never dead. An amazing thought, my friend. Well written.
