Mind The Gap

Mind The Gap

A Poem by Karina Longo

Culture built with my own hands

This sand is thick but still remains

The ancient time counted with glory

But the past is broken and the future is boring

Eating crisps and drinking alcohol -

I choke with my thoughts

Telly is good for your hormones -

but who said that?

I still believe in everything 'cos

I have it all to lose

Nobody wants to love anymore,

it's only self-abuse

Waiting forever, waiting 'till never

Gonna pack my bags 'n take

the first flight to London town

To freeze my heart and pretend to be loud

C'mon let's sing a song

and forget we're stuck on the ground

In London town, yeah

In London town

Walking through Leicester Square

No one's around, but neon outdoors everywhere

Pretend you care, beauty has always been trendy

Mack the knife, Broadway's demanding

Waiting forever, waiting 'till never

Gonna pack my bags

and get the hell out of London town

Goodbye's always made me feel so f*****g down

My head's spinning and I forgot my heart somewhere

You can't stop smiling

when you're crying inside instead

I like the flow of words in this poem. I had to read a second time. I been to places I wanted to stay. Left me with the wonder If I should of stay and see what the end could of been? A very strong ending to a excellent poem.

I still believe in everything 'cos I have it all to lose. This is beautiful, and ever so sad Karina. I hope for love and joy for you. And success, but I already know that will come. You are so talented!

Yeah this definitely is lyrical, and I enjoyed it a lot. The anger is still fluctuating throughout the words, yet sadness at the same time.

I like the journey through reflection than the steps towards walking away or an escape.
