Could I Eat Forevermore?...

Could I Eat Forevermore?...

A Chapter by Louis McKraker

Could I eat forevermore,

Satisfied with a lessor fork?

I hope to satisfy this aching question before

My table's maître d' returns through the door.

Just curious, of course;

Would I still be adored?

With less?--as if it is more?

Would it end me, and the hoard?

-

For as long as I can remember

(and I'm told for long before)

My mother ate, in the coldest December,

Satisfied all her life with a lessor fork.

Thank God for humility.

It's more than just avid sport;

It's a security in one's natural abilities,

To be satisfied that way forevermore.

Could I eat forevermore,

Satisfied with a lessor fork?

Great wisdom shared in the words Louis.

My dear Grandmother would re-use teabags and clean the paper plates. She knew hard times and hard days. Your words are teaching. People should listen. Thank you for sharing the outstanding poetry.
