Lament

Lament

A Poem by MOON

Break me on the shore

Of the stone cold

Summer day

Breathe no more for

I have drowned

In blossom May

You are the cold August wind

That shrieks at my door

Crushing me as I fold

Break me on your shore

Your grey stone heart

I hear

Spring now in silence roar

Shut the heavy steel door

Once there was love

Now only war

There is such a melancholy expressed with this warmth seen to chill, when blossoms kill, the silent sound of such a stone heart... How beautiful things become the roots of despair, when love dies and blackens in such a way. Beautifully expressed Moon.

Thank you so much, take care!
loving the use of an oxymoron...summers cold when hearts lament...and I just love the word lament...holds a beauty all on it's own.

Thanks for your time and lovely comments, take care!
How far we have fallen from the highest point of the mind of God...
I really enjoyed the picture.
Your words show true despair. Appropriate for the topic.

Thanks David , go well!
wow, a war of paradoxes and oxymorons so wonderfully woven into this piece depicting the unease of a relationship in mid-june turned icy like a frigid february.

nicely done, my friend.

Thanks Jacob for the encouraging words.

"Once there was love
Now only war"

The last two lines say it all. We can never foretell what will happen to a relationship but we can do something to save it, that is, if it's still worth saving.

Thanks Gabrielle always glad when you stop by!
This is a gorgeous prose. I was especially drawn to your title. Lament: to express sorrow, mourning, or regret. It's interesting how some energies "like love" it can make a heart whole and make you feel good, yet it also has the potential to destroy a person by forever destroying trust, and by breaking their hearts. I guess that's what I got out of this...the lamenting of knowing what you once embraced...was going to hurt you in the end: Break me on the shore "what a stunning way to describe this emotion"

Spring now in silence roar
"sometimes the most deafening screams...are the ones that cannot be heard at all." These inner voices and inner screams can be very damaging.

This is a very good piece. I love your choice of words and the description used to describe the torment felt of a love ending.

This poem brings to mind the classics. War changes everything. The months wear on and everything else pales in the face of war. Good rhyming in this poem. Well written. lydi**

Thank you Lydia , most appreciated.

This poem expresses the chill of war and lost love in an inspiring way. It inspired me to write this tiny gift mono-rhyme poem for you which you may keep as your own since you supplied all the ideas within it.

Hot Chill

A hot August Summer's day
chilled by love that's gone astray,
and war games that people play
means that we have lost our way.
