A Poem by Michael Thrower
"

A stranger came up to me wearing a hoodie that hid his face, handing me a book with my name as the cover.

"

Walking home from work one night

A hooded figure passed me by

Eyes hidden beneath the hood

A smirk I saw, then understood.

Quickly I began to run past

Yet, his grip snatched me way too fast

Without a word he showed me a book

My name on the cover; I saw and shook.

He pushed the book close to my chest

I took it from him in my distress

Opening to the very first page

I saw in print my life on display.

I looked back and the man was gone

So quickly I ran back to my home

The night was long and treacherous

As I read every detail, my whole life in print.

I read to where I was currently

Then noticed something very interesting

In horror I shut the book away

Seeing as I was on the last page.

wow Michael! This was a very gripping poem. I was sucked in during the very first line and felt myself living the poem as I was reading it. I saw everything- the expressions, emotions of confusion, smugness, fear, shock, I saw the dark surrounding, the darker hood. And oh my goodness that ending was great! I couldn't see it coming! Very original idea and piece, and- of course- very well written as usual. Great job!
God bless:)

A journey of twists and turns rants in this poem. I love the closing line "Seeing as I was on the last page." Your destination still unknown just as a poem doesn't deserve a clarifying answer.

Thank you! Very pleasant review.
Very nice! I loved it! So mysterious and balanced, I felt as if I were there! Really wished it didn't end with a cliffhanger but those are the ones that send you a rush of adrenaline!

Nice representation of the cloaked, hooded figure nobodyt ever wants to see! I am going to assume that figure is Death, given the physical description and the words "I was on the last page"?

This was so so so interesting to read! The first two verses and I was already hooked. Normally, I'm not one for poetry that has a specific rhyme and pattern, but this is definitely an exception. Each word fits so perfectly into place. And I LOVE the story in this. It actually reminds me of a story I wrote a year ago. A women was writing a book and she soon realized she was writing a book of her own life, of which of course she found out her death. And it ended like that. She died while writing.
But anyways, amaaaazing job dude. 100/100

Very interesting. I would only hope that this doesn't happen to me anytime soon. If so, I would hope that there are many blank pages after.
