The Idealist

A poem about the personality and life of an idealist.

Clueless they seek

To find destiny.

A passion, a truth,

What will they can see.

 

And in the Mist,

Of breaking ground.

A road of Endless,

They have found.

 

As an author takes his seat,

Pen in hand, he does not speak.

And once the words form on the page,

A novelist, he dug his grave.

 

Destiny?

We shall see,

But what is fate?

A make-believe.

 

A Word to tell,

And peace to keep,

He sits his throne,

And all shall weep.

I am going to give you an honest opinion on the italics. I think they distract from your words other than add to them. You words are powerful enough to stand on their own. With that being said, I think the concept is sharp and interesting. I really enjoyed reading this and found it to be insightful yet entertaining.

I feel the italicized words add a bit too much effect to the poem, though I'm a simplistic person as is. The fluency of the piece was easy and smooth, very well structured I quite like the lines "Pen in hand, he does not speak. And once the words form on the page, A novelist, he dug his grave." I have no idea but that just struck me as powerful. Beautiful work!
