Syntax void of punctuation sounds slightly disreputable. But syntax has to do merely with arrangement while grammar demands that our verbs and nouns agree while capitalization is neither. I've known poets who capitalize every line of verse. Others, like E.E. Cummings, used capitalization in random spurts. But it was the publishing house which rendered his signature on his books in lower case and not the poet himself as Norman Freidman has pointed out in his literary critique of Cummings' work. Mr. Cummings liked to play with the rules and color outside the lines. Personally, I don't hold any disdain for the lack of punctuation or "artistic" appreciation for it. But if one has the talented gifts of a Cummings, one need not rely on gimmicks to impress one's readers. The words speak genius for themselves. This was an interesting piece. It's good old Ben Franklin began his work as a typesetter. He'd be amused to see his character develop a font of his own. I enjoyed the read.

Kelly, this does modernism proud. I like modernism because I don't live in the 1700s. At the same time, I don't discredit those who came before. They were the moderns of their day.

I am not an expert. I am a lifelong student. But in my humble opinion, this is some of your best writing and I applaud you for it.
