A Road Well Traveled

Inspired by the beauty of a sunrise

with the breaking of dawn

drinking in the beautiful sunrise
I feel the resounding call
of the open highway

wind rushing through the windows
blowing back still damp hair
tires boldly breaking trail
branching off from a road well traveled

forging ahead I am savoring
childhood memories with a heart
full of love and appreciation
bittersweet and overwhelming

grateful for a life that has
been blessed beyond compare
midst trials and tribulations
wondering what tomorrow may bring

 

Author's Note

I wrote this after going home to visit family and friends. Nostalgia hits hard as we get older. I was able to capture this photo of the sunrise on my first day back on the road.

Past experiences often make good use of our time. Our thoughts are in a good and safe place which prohibit us from negative thinking. One sight of something can trigger a memory that takes us back to a good time.

Seems that whatever your road, Dara,you've coped with the negatives and ridden free and hopeful, ready to stop, pause, feel peace and joy - when you arrrive to that precious place you feel at home. This could be an open prayer, complete with hands held high. Beautifully created. .. beautiful picture

Yes, so many ghosts. It reminds of the saying "you can never go back home again" which to me means, home is never the same once you leave. So nice to see you here. Hope life is treating you well!

my Da use to tell me that all the time..."Son, you can never go back" ;) but i have enjoyed revisiting places i have been .. seeing some of the people i use to know ...the strangeness of it seems very sublime ..i wrote a poem about saying goodbye to a place if you would like i will give you the link
