Like a Lighthouse

When loving someone from a distance…

I want my love
Like a lighthouse to be
Standing tall and firm
Above a raging sea.

Or shining boldly
On a damp foggy night
To keep you safe
With my bright white light.

I want my love
Like a lighthouse to be
Steadfast and strong
As an old oak tree.

A light to guide you
On a cold dark night
Forever glowing
Forever bright.

Does love hold up when one is apart from their lover or does it get stronger?
Did you ever see the old movie Love Letter? With Joseph Cotton? Wonderful movie which I never tire of seeing over the years.

Loving from a distance allows you to concentrate on the good times and positive feelings. The obstacles you may face during an everyday relationship aren’t there. I believe it to be a more romantic type of love but perhaps less realistic. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and digest my poem. I definitely look forward to reading more of yours!

Yes, I have one but sometimes the distance becomes too much. However, there is always hope and that helps keep me going. Thank you for your kind words. I am with you, I prefer simple prose myself. Take care!
