Joy Is in the Air

The spring of hope butterflies Pictures, Images and Photos

Precious is the hope of spring;
sunshine kisses dew.
Flowers bloom, and robins sing.

Happy children swing;
joy has found its due
breaking from cold winter's sting.

Dancing breezes add
their own special zing,
glad to bid the cold adieu.

Songbirds chirp on wing
melodies anew;
songs of spring come echoing.

Tulips' lovely fling
brightens up life's hue,
pastel colors wandering.

Gifts each day shall bring
open into view;
precious is the hope of spring,
fresh and bright and glistening.

What an innovative form of the tanka, Sharon. Your poem sings of the beauties of springtime and it makes me so sad to think of how very far away it is. Going into fall, I see the hardshipds of winter staring me in the face. Thank you for this beautiful gift of spring in this "season of my discontent" Your pen is golden!

I assume the tankanelle is a form you have devised using rules for two kinds of poetry. It shows great creativity.
